It's Got: Excellent performances from Kate Winslet and Kirsten Dunst, and a surprisingly restrained (and therefore tolerable) one from Jim Carrey; visual effects that manage to be both low-key and gobsmacking at the same time; and a funny, twisted, bleak, sentimental screenplay that could only have been written by Charlie Kaufman.
It Needs: Possibly to be seen more than once (fittingly enough for a film about second chances and déjà vu).

One of the worst movies I have seen in the past three years, confusing flashbacks and characters, a meandering collage of scenes and dialogue.

Definitely need to see it more than once to truly understand what's going on. I thought it was confusing, but interesting and creative.

Great movie. Never before romantic comedy was so weird, and still true, avoiding cliches. It tackles with the issue of second chance brilliantly.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a quotation from a poem by Alexander Pope called Eloisa to Abelard. In one scene, Mary reads part of the poem (including that line) out of "Bartlett's Familiar Quotations" to Dr. Mierzwiak.
