Peter Stormare
Reviews Featuring Peter Stormare
An odd cross between a farcical comedy and a crime thriller, with some peculiar characters in an unusual setting. It shouldnt work but it does, resulting in a fine film that defies expectations.
Big budget nonsense, which commits the fatally smug error of supposing that just about anything will acquire charm and wit merely through Will Smith's involvement. 'Bad Boys 2' is full of misfiring humour, inappropriately sadistic violence, and paddle-pool shallowness - just about its only virtue is that, though it seems to last a lifetime, it is thankfully soon forgotten.
'Spun' is a frenetically paced trip taken by people going nowhere fast, caught on a web of their own spinning. More subtle, but no less devastating, than 'Requiem for a Dream' in its depiction of pharmaceutical crash-and-burn, it lets the characters' tragic trajectories speak for themselves instead of preaching an anti-drug gospel from some elevated pulpit. A sleazily compelling insider's view into the nihilistic, self-deluding world of crystal meths.
Convoluted, poorly structured, miscast, and not really worth the bother.
World War II at its most boring.
A prime example of how impressive acting and wonderful direction can be wasted on an implausible and slightly-tasteless story.
Keanu Reeves surfs through his acting in this otherwise excellent demonic film noir.
An excellent stoner comedy with the right mix of brains, laughs and memorable characters. The Coen Brothers' finest? It's a close one.
