Some people will think that a film about vampires and werewolves is inherently silly, and should be watched only for its visceral thrills (which 'Underworld' certainly has). Yet at a time when mainstream American discourse would have us believe that in war everything is black and white, 'Underworld' represents an important voice of reasoned dissent in its suggestion that war is in fact a morally messy business, with complicated and often misunderstood causes – which makes 'Underworld' not just a kick-ass monster free-for-all, but also a vampire film with unexpectedly political bite.
Horror
The Mothman Prophecies
A completely average thriller that makes very little of the true life storys potential.
The Sixth Sense
Flawed in places, but essentially a fascinating film full of shocks, atmosphere, heavily-religious symbolism and one of the all-time classic twists.
Alien: Resurrection
Visually impressive, but too much of it is contrived and totally far-fetched making it effectively the binary opposite of the original movie. Here is a prime example of a franchise that should have quit while it was ahead.
Jeepers Creepers 2
The Creeper eats schoolkids from a bus like so many beans from a can, and the result is a film that has some tasty moments, but leaves a bad smell in the end.
Alien: Legacy
A nicely-packaged collectors item which anyone whos a fan of the series will love. Anyone else would be better off just getting the first two that ways cheaper, and you really wouldnt be missing out on much.
