Made when a one-man Robert Downey Jr. show was novel and a lot less annoying, Iron Man is a successfull comic book adaption with a nice balance of humour, plot and action.

The Avengers
A far better superhero mash-up than it’s constituent parts would suggest, Joss Whedon’s The Avengers has surprisingly well-executed plot and action and comes across as entertaining and pretty funny.
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
A sequel that’s better than the original thanks to excellent plot progression, characters to care about and one almighty action scene. Incidentally, if you have a leather fetish then this is the best film you’ll be able to find outside of your local Erotic City.
The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is a well-worn concept done fairly well but it’s a bit confused by who it’s target audience is. Basically this sanitised Battle Royale is like Twilight, if everyone decided to kill each other.
Mad Max
Plenty of stunts, memorable scenes and pre-alcohol-Brit-bashing Mel Gibson makes this revenge thriller a winner. A little dated when seen today but George Miller has to get credit for getting there first and on a small budget too.
John Carter
Andrew Stanton’s disappointing sci-fi epic is all style and no substance. Teenage boys are better off playing a video game whereas female admirers of the male form should just flick through a guy’s underwear catalogue instead.
