The Girl Who Played With Fire
Alfredson’s effort is too disjointed and just doesn’t give enough shared screentime to the charismatic leads to get even close to the awesome The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Shame.
The Secret in Their Eyes
A worthy Oscar Winner that expertly blends mystery, romance, comedy and suspense to create a really moving and satisfying watch.
Nicely surreal and stylish and a great look at a really influential musician, just a little overlong and repetitous.
Heartbreaker
Romance, laughs, action, gangsters – there’s something for almost everyone in this slick Monte Carlo-set French romcom
Black Death
Okay but not great, Black Death is deftly moody and unsentimentally brutal in parts but never really hits its stride when it should.
