A generally enjoyable film that fails to kick on after a rollicking first half. Spoiler: Quentin Tarrantino should never, ever speak in an Australian accent ever again.
Westerns
Shane
A solid likeable Western full of memorable scenes, characters and dialogue. Oh, and the most annoying child you could imagine.
Cowboys and Aliens
Ultimately soulless and devoid of any of the laughs that could have saved it, Cowboys and Aliens has an interesting idea but is poorly executed by Favreau. Didn’t make me Yee-ha once – so disappointed.
Once Upon a Time in the West
One of the finest Westerns you will ever see, Once Upon a Time in the West offers up great characterisation, masterful storytelling and atmospheric cinematography and score.
True Grit
The Coen Brothers surpass the original thanks to their trademark humour, gorgeous cinematography and a host of excellent performances.
Jonah Hex
It’s a mess, and Megan Fox is pretty much pointless, but Jonah Hex has its moments of B-movie Western fun.
