Leon

May 9, 2003 by Andrea Chee

An outstandingly touching film, genuine, yet with plenty of tension and drama. This one will appeal to a wider audience than just Besson fans, and is well worth taking the time to see.

Resident Evil

May 9, 2003 by Andrea Chee

This is a workmanlike sci-fi shocker that will most please adolescents and some fans of the genre. Others are likely to find it exciting but not outstanding, although the music from the film does raise it above the ordinary – the score lifts this film’s mark from a 6 to a 7.

This is an outstanding period piece full of wonderful characters. Although this film version runs to longer than three hours, it never drags or loses its grip. Highly recommended.

Nikita (La Femme Nikita)

A stylish and gripping thriller with visual interest and a strong lead character. Vastly superior to the US remake ('Point of No Return’).
