Drama

Clarissa

This is an outstanding period piece full of wonderful characters. Although this film version runs to longer than three hours, it never drags or loses its grip. Highly recommended.

A clever idea that’s never quite as good as you want it to be.

Road to Perdition

May 2, 2003 by Andrea Chee

Excellent performances, wonderful cinematography, observant direction, its 'pseudo-film noir’ feel, and a great soundtrack combine to make this one of the best films of recent years. This is a gangster film that can make you cry, but don’t bother watching if you’re just looking for a traditional gangster shoot-‘em-up because you’ll be disappointed – this story of relationships runs much deeper than that.

Solaris

A complete waste of space. Literally. See it at your peril. If you absolutely must see George Clooney’s permanently clenched behind, then this is the movie for you.

Subway

A nice-looking film that may not be to everyone’s taste, but a must-see for Besson fans.

Pleasant 'Friday-night-in-with-the-girls’ movie, but lacking in depth
