Possibly the best adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Excellent performances, a haunting atmosphere and a unique take on the famous novel from Werner Herzog is just enough to give it the edge.
Fantasy
Midnight in Paris
A unique romance from Woody Allen that’s fairly entertaining but slightly muted. If only he didn’t make it look so much like he wants to have sexual relations with the city of Paris.
Conan the Barbarian
This fantasy remake offers more than enough action but without a plot or any charactersation whatsoever to back it up, Conan fails to grace the heights of the early-Nineties cartoon.
Captain America: The First Avenger
This fairly uninteresting and unoriginal superhero is saved somewhat by a few decent characters and acting turns.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
A fitting end to the hugely popular series sees Harry Potter re-find the magic it had recently lost in previous instalments. Unfortunately though, this landmark leaves most of the British film industry unemployed.
Hanna
Super stylish and refreshingly different, Joe Wright and the young Saoirse Ronan elevate this thriller above a mere gimmick.
