Still recovering from the mild stroke I suffered whilst watching this very complex thriller from master-of-that-kind-of-thing David Lynch. An excellent movie if you give it your full attention.
Movies
The Five-Year Engagement
Like much of Apatow’s work, this is too long to be enjoyable. With a more compact runtime and less oddbal characters flying around, it could have been much better.
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted
Inoffensive fun for the kids with everyone tagging along from the first two installments but with enough new stuff to keep the kids, and any adults who might be partially paying attention, entertained.
Prometheus
Ridley Scott sets up Prometheus perfectly, only to vomit up a very unsatisfactory conclusion. A missed opportunity.
Trollhunter
This faux-footage offering from Norway is simultaneously funny, innovative, ridiculous and sometimes a little scary. It’s an enjoyable study into the real life world of trolls – as long as you can look past the cartoony appearance of the CGI beasts.
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan
One of the defining comedies of the Noughties that somehow makes you think despite being hugely offensive and, on the surface, pretty absurb.
