An original and compelling take on the end of the world from nouveau-Nazi Lars Von Trier. Excellent acting, beautiful cinematography and a wonderful soundtrack create a haunting atmosphere. A great film – even if you do leave the cinema with all hope and positivity destroyed.
Science Fiction
Priest
No doubt a fun ride with some things going for it but Priest is just a vacuous airhead that’s completely letdown by a lack of substance.
Battle: Los Angeles
A war film with aliens that looks good but shows a total lack of intelligence. To borrow an expression: you can’t polish a turd.
Paul
If you can get past the Marmite casting of Seth Rogen as Paul the alien you will find this comedy likeable and consistently funny if not a little dumbed down.
Sunshine
Looks and sounds fabulous but gets a little bit silly in the end.
TRON: Legacy
A total victory of style over substance from first time Director Joseph Kosinski that’s really awe-inspiring big screen fun. There’s plenty to criticise but just enjoy the ride.
