Somehow, in a mainstream US market that likes its genre films to be in space and its summer films to blow things up, Splice is able to make us think, gross us out, and even scare us a little.
Science Fiction
Starship Troopers
Paul Verhoeven is at his crazy best with this mixture of B-movie shoot-em-up and anti-Imperialist critique. It’s much deeper than it would seem at first glance but it’s also great fun.
Lost (Season 6)
There were a few lulls, but overall, the last season of the television phenomena offered some of the best episodes of the show.
Legion
Legion presents some interesting ideas, and a bunch of movie references, but its definitely got some issues to work through.
Iron Man 2
A fun but pretty pointless sequel that retraces a lot of old ground and wastes a talented supporting cast in favour of an all-out blanket coverage on Robert Downey Jr.’s superhero.
Hot Tub Time Machine
Better than The Hangover if you were an eighties kid, Hot Tub Time Machine may lack in making sense, but its funny, which is the job of a comedy.
