A workmanlike heist movie that’s given cult status by a terrifically terrifying performance by Ben Kingsley and a role that Ray WInstone was born to play.
The guys behind Saw and Paranormal Activity have got together and produced a slightly embarrassing attempt at horror that’s going to get viewers sniggering, not cowering, behind their sofas.
No doubt a fun ride with some things going for it but Priest is just a vacuous airhead that’s completely letdown by a lack of substance.
Poignant, intelligent and beautifully minimalist, Hanecke pulls off another of his deep open-ended masterpieces. As to be expected though , it’s none to cheery.
It’s big, loud, brash and ultimately pretty fun but, at the end of the day, Sucker Punch is filled with paper-thin characters and doesn’t really make any sense.
For once it’s a remake of an excellent international offering that seems worth it thanks to Scorsese doing what he does best and a wonderful ensemble cast.
A war film with aliens that looks good but shows a total lack of intelligence. To borrow an expression: you can’t polish a turd.
Ignore the title and tell everyone about this latest engrossing thriller from ze French.
