Somehow, in a mainstream US market that likes its genre films to be in space and its summer films to blow things up, Splice is able to make us think, gross us out, and even scare us a little.
Black Death
Okay but not great, Black Death is deftly moody and unsentimentally brutal in parts but never really hits its stride when it should.
From Paris with Love
Weve seen it before, but this action flick is a quick, funny watch, due mostly to a masterfully ridiculous performance by Travolta, that only sags a little at the end.
The A-Team
Summer is the time for mindless blockbuster shenanigans, and though it’s not a classic or anything, The A-Team revamp is good at what it does and much better than Killers.
Killers
Quite possibly one of the worst movies of the year thus far, Killers is an example of what happens when all the wrong things combine into one dreadful movie.
Get Him to the Greek
Better than The Hangover, Get Him to the Greek is funny and raunchy, owing much of its charm to the perfectly cast Russell Brand, Jonah Hill, and Sean P. Diddy Combs.
