My Little Eye

This is an above-average Blair Witch-style thriller with plenty of suspense that succeeds more often than it fails – it is certainly superior to Blair Witch in most respects.

Roxanne

One of the funniest movies of the 80s, “Roxanne” hasn’t aged a bit and remains as side-splitting as ever.

Earth Vs The Spider

A bizarre mix of comic book camp and “The Fly”-style horror.

Unfaithful

This is a workmanlike erotic thriller with some tension and a fair few effective moments but not many surprises. The strong cast are the main reason it rises above being merely average.

Baise-Moi

This is a shocking, explicit and violent but decent thriller considering its humble origins, recommended for those adults with the stomach for it. It’s not for those who don’t want to see the real sex act on screen.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

From the fantastic opening animated short to the suitably wacky climax, this movie is not only a work of ‘toon art but brilliant entertainment to boot. Add it to your collection now – and that’s all folks.

Leon

An outstandingly touching film, genuine, yet with plenty of tension and drama. This one will appeal to a wider audience than just Besson fans, and is well worth taking the time to see.

Resident Evil

This is a workmanlike sci-fi shocker that will most please adolescents and some fans of the genre. Others are likely to find it exciting but not outstanding, although the music from the film does raise it above the ordinary – the score lifts this film’s mark from a 6 to a 7.

Donnie Darko

A fascinating, thought-provoking and at times darkly comic big screen directorial debut from Kelly.

Ghost Rig

This first-attempt British film is a commendable effort at a horror thriller – it shows plenty of potential and stands up very well in comparison with its better-funded American cousins.
